Instructions
- Prepare the cookie dough by creaming butter and sugar. Mix in egg and vanilla. Combine dry ingredients, then chill the dough.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Roll out the dough and cut into pie slice shapes. Bake for 8-10 minutes until lightly golden.
- For royal icing, whisk powdered sugar and meringue powder; gradually add water and vanilla until stiff peaks form. Color portions with gel food coloring.
- Decorate cookies with orange icing, then pipe a brown crust edge after it dries.
- Create white frosting dollops by mixing butter, powdered sugar, vanilla, and cream until fluffy; pipe onto cookies.
