  • 1/2 cup baking soda
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix warm water and 1 teaspoon of sugar. Sprinkle yeast on top; let sit until foamy (5-10 minutes).
  2. Add flour, 1/4 cup sugar, and salt to the yeast mixture. Mix until shaggy dough forms; knead for 5-7 minutes until smooth.
  3. Place dough in an oiled bowl; cover and let rise in a warm area for 1 hour.
  4. Preheat oven to 425°F; line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  5. Boil 10 cups of water with baking soda in a pot.
  6. Punch down the risen dough, divide it into portions, roll into ropes, and cut into bite-sized pieces.
  7. Boil pretzel bites in batches for 20-30 seconds; drain excess water before placing on baking sheets.
  8. Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Toss baked bites in melted butter and then coat with cinnamon-sugar mixture.
