Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 large jar (about 46 oz) dill pickles
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 6 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 2 teaspoons fresh jalapeño (chopped)
  • 2 teaspoons red pepper flakes
  • 2 teaspoons parsley (chopped)

Instructions

  1. Drain the dill pickles and discard the juice. Slice the pickles into ¼ to ½ inch pieces.
  2. Layer the sliced pickles in a large jar, starting with about 1½ cups per layer.
  3. For each layer, add ½ cup sugar, 2 minced garlic cloves, ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes, and ½ teaspoon chopped jalapeño.
  4. Repeat layering until all ingredients are used, finishing with any remaining sugar on top.
  5. Cover the jar and let it sit at room temperature for about an hour until the sugar liquefies.
  6. Stir or shake the jar gently to mix all ingredients well.
  7. Let it rest covered for several more hours or overnight before refrigerating for an additional day or two.
