  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 23 tablespoons cold water
  • 1 ½ cups milk
  • 2 large egg yolks
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • Fresh strawberries, thinly sliced
  • Edible rose petals (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Make the tart crust by mixing flour, salt, sugar, and butter in a food processor until crumbly. Add egg yolk and cold water and mix until combined. Chill for 30 minutes.
  3. Roll out the dough and fit it into a tart pan. Bake for 15-20 minutes with weights, then remove weights and bake until golden.
  4. Prepare custard by heating milk and whisking together egg yolks, sugar, and cornstarch in another bowl. Combine gradually; cook until thickened.
  5. Cool custard and fold in whipped cream before pouring into the cooled tart shell.
  6. Decorate with sliced strawberries and optional rose petals.
