  • Zest of 1 lemon
  • ¼ cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons lemon zest (for filling)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened (for filling)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice (for glaze)
  • 1 tablespoon milk (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, granulated sugar, yeast, and salt. Add warmed milk, melted butter, egg, and lemon zest. Mix until soft dough forms.
  2. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth.
  3. Place in a greased bowl and let rise for an hour until doubled.
  4. Prepare the filling by mixing brown sugar, lemon zest, and softened butter in a small bowl.
  5. Roll out the dough into a rectangle and spread the filling evenly before rolling tightly into a log.
  6. Slice into equal pieces and place in a greased baking dish to rise for another 30 minutes.
  7. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Whisk powdered sugar with lemon juice and milk for glaze; drizzle over cooled rolls.
