  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon instant espresso powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract

  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 stick unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 1 tablespoon heavy cream
  • 4 tablespoons Kahlua, or other coffee liqueur
  • 1 teaspoon instant espresso powder
  • 3 cups powdered sugar, sifted
  • Ground cinnamon, for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Melt diced butter and chopped chocolate together using a double boiler or microwave.
  3. Stir in granulated sugar, then add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Incorporate instant espresso powder, vanilla extract, and salt.
  5. Fold in all-purpose flour until just combined.
  6. Pour batter into greased baking pan; bake for about 20 minutes or until toothpick comes out with moist crumbs.
  7. While cooling, prepare Kahlua buttercream by beating softened butter and gradually adding powdered sugar, then mix in heavy cream and espresso powder until smooth.
  8. Frost cooled brownies with Kahlua buttercream and dust with ground cinnamon before cutting into bite-sized pieces.
