- 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- ½ cup all-purpose flour
- ½ cup cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 large egg
- ½ cup cold water
- Vegetable oil, for frying
- 3 tablespoons vegetable oil (for sauce)
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2–3 tablespoons red chili sauce, adjust to taste
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 2 green onions, sliced
- Sesame seeds, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Cut chicken into bite-sized pieces. In a bowl, mix flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, pepper, and paprika. In another bowl, whisk together egg and cold water.
- Dip chicken in the egg mixture, then coat in the flour mixture.
- Heat oil in a deep skillet to 350°F (175°C). Fry chicken in batches until golden brown and crispy for about 4-5 minutes.
- For the sauce, heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant. Stir in red chili sauce, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and sugar; cook until slightly thickened.
