  • 1 pound ground Italian sausage

  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper

  • 3 cups marinara sauce
  • 15 ounces ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons fresh basil, chopped (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook ziti in salted boiling water until al dente. Drain and set aside.
