Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (mozzarella or cheddar)
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast by mixing warm milk, sugar, and yeast in a bowl. Let it sit until frothy (5-10 minutes).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine melted butter, salt, eggs, and the activated yeast mixture. Gradually add flour until a soft dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm spot for 1-2 hours until doubled in size.
  5. Mix garlic and cheese in a separate bowl while the dough rises.
  6. Punch down the risen dough, divide it into 12 pieces, flatten each piece, add filling, pinch to seal and shape into balls.
  7. Arrange rolls seam-side down in a greased baking dish; cover and let rise again for 30-45 minutes.
  8. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Brush rolls with melted butter before baking for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Brush again with melted butter post-baking and garnish with parsley before serving.
