- 2 cups plain flour
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- Pinch of salt
- 1 egg
- 1/3 cup rolled oats
- 3–4 large Granny Smith apples (diced)
- 1/4 cup plain flour (for filling)
- 1/4 cup white sugar (for filling)
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- Salted caramel sauce (for drizzling)
- Ice cream (for serving)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 180C (350F) and grease a 20cm (8") square baking pan lined with baking parchment.
- In a mixing bowl, combine melted butter, flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt until no dry ingredients remain visible.
- Add the egg and mix well until fully combined.
- Press two-thirds of the mixture into the prepared pan and bake for approximately 15 minutes until slightly golden.
- In another bowl, mix diced apples with flour, sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg; toss to coat thoroughly.
- Spread the apple filling over the baked base and crumble the remaining mixture on top.
- Bake for an additional 25–30 minutes or until golden brown. Let cool before cutting.
